If you've been following along my journey here, you've noticed that I have started planning our Year 2 school year in a grand attempt to be more organized and plan for success in our home education lifestyle.

What I really desire in my home is that Charlotte Mason and her philosophies wouldn't just impact our school, but that education would become our lifestyle. And so I feel like in the beginning stages I will have to be heavy hitting on the organized planning for a while until it becomes a habit of just doing things in the way I feel is most beneficial. And authentic. Let's not forget authentic.

I've attempted home education the way I thought school "should look" and it was never a real success. I won't say my children didn't learn that way, because kids brains are like sponges so they can learn in pretty much any environment. But it was not conducive to the lifestyle I was wanting to present for my kids.

So, back to planning; while reformatting the Nature Study curriculum we use I decided I'd really like to incorporate Monthly Dividers into my binders. Yes, Binder(s). To create my own Charlotte Mason for Dummies I'm going to have 1 binder for each Term. This I feel like will create those bite size chunks that I can chew and swallow and allow our days to then flow smoothly. Instead of feeling like there's a kink in the chain somewhere.

And while I was designing them I had an epiphany! Why don't I use the animal fact printables I have been creating for months for our Nature Study project Wild Child Zoology? I added a few and loved the look and thought to myself, why not have a few fun facts follow us each month? A beautiful part of Charlotte Mason education includes studying artists and their art. Every year I am enthralled with the different styles and colors represented in their works. I find the Charlotte Mason Education I'm using for my children is reigniting my love for learning as the same time.

This upcoming school year we'll be continuing with using Ambleside Online and therefore we'll be using a new artist for each term. Last year I was fortunate enough to design a biography for the composers, but this year I decided to add a small biography of the Artists with the Art Print portfolio design. I'm so excited to use this in the upcoming year.

I have an 11 year old and a soon to be 8 year old daughter that are schooling together. To make things easier on the transition into full CM mode we all started in Year 1, with exception to a few subjects like Math, Phonics, & Handwriting. There are a few elements to a CM education we have not started implementing because I'm still learning about them and don't feel very up to the challenge. But so far we absolutely love having combined History, Geography, Bible, Poetry, & Literature. And we hope to continue, but add a few more bites of the feast in, into Year 2.

As I'm designing and planning my upcoming school year you'll notice I've shared quite a few files from my binder redesign. I'll continue to do so as I finish them. These are free to use and share!

The time has come to organize a new school year! The first place I normally go is planning out my school year with the new years studies for composer, artist, & music. And since I do Ambleside Online this includes a new composer study for each term. 

This year we're going to be studying Mozart, Paganini, & Schumann. But for good measure I've also started on next years and have Wagner completed as well.  

You are more than welcome to share in the fruits of my labor, I hope that everything I make here helps another family out that finds they need much more organization and even a sense of style. Pretty things are something that my brain needs to keep the monotonous engaging, are you that way?

I hope to start compiling a book list to go with each of the Composers we will study this upcoming year and when I do I will certainly share those with you as well as apart of my study files.

PS. The information obtained for these biographies was a bit taken from several sources, Wikipedia is one. I greatly scaled down the information hoping to catch just the main important parts. I most definitely recommend using books more suited for children to add on to this for a fun read. We will be using the Opal Wheeler books written about composers.

One of the things I consider a must have in my school binder for organization and keeping track of school days is a yearly school calendar. It's also a must have when you're teaching your early learners the days of the week, the months, and the year.

While I'm designing and updating my school binder for the upcoming school year in an effort to be ultimately prepared I designed a new school calendar and I'm sharing it with you! I also like to add an inspiring scripture verse at the bottom of each month to kind of steer my mind in the right direction as we go through the calendar each day.

Since I'm a largely visual person, I'm a huge fan of everything being pretty. For that reason I generally design a lot of visually appealing things to go along with our school, including organization.

I'm hard at work over here creating daily schedules for our next School Year in Ambleside Online, Year 2. And updating some of my supplemental printables with the Hymn & Folk Lyrics, Poems, Composer Studies (biography, booklist & the song list), Artist Studies (Artist Biography & Art Prints, + Booklist), and any others that change yearly with Ambleside Online.

This year I decided to help make things much more organized I'm going to have 3 binders, one for each Term. The break down is as follows: Term 1, Year 2 Instruction Manual (a supplement I created, available in the Ambleside Group Files), Term Daily Schedules (a supplement I created, blank download available >> Here <<), Our School Calendar, Bible Studies (print out of verses we'll study, etc), Poetry, Artist Study, Composer Study, Hymns & Folk Lyrics, & Nature Study for that Term.
